Here are some areas that were historically considered more affordable in Manchester.

What are the most affordable parts of Manchester?

    1. Gorton: Located to the east of the city centre, Gorton has been known for more affordable housing options. It is though, like much of Manchester, seeing rising prices to both buy and rent a property
    2. Longsight: This area, situated southeast of the city centre, has traditionally offered more budget-friendly housing. It is set along Stockport Road, close to another up and coming area – Levenshulme.
    3. Cheetham Hill: Found to the north of the city centre, Cheetham Hill is another area where property prices have historically been more reasonable. It is however subject to redevelopment and the Red Bank area of Cheetham (close to town) is expensive to both rent and buy in. Prestwich, further on, is expensive.
    4. Ardwick: Situated to the southeast of the city centre, Ardwick has been considered an affordable option for both renting and buying. Again, though, like much of the area, it is seeing rising property prices.
    5. Beswick: East of Manchester city centre, Beswick is an area that has been long associated with relatively affordable housing.
    6. Collyhurst – like its neighbour, Miles Platting, Collyhurst is seeing huge redevelopment. Its towers, named after the Pankhurst sisters, close to Rochdale Road, have been refurbished. Rents here are lower than the city centre – but are still costed at around £1,000 per month. It is having a new development constructed too – called Collyhurst Village.
    7. Harpurhey – on good bus routes to Middleton and Manchester, rents and property prices here are lower than the average. It is

Please note that the affordability of an area can vary based on individual preferences, market conditions, and other factors. Additionally, urban development and gentrification may impact the affordability of different neighbourhoods over time.

South of Manchester

South of Manchester commands the highest prices, away from the city centre:

  1. Didsbury (split in three parts according to the Metrolink – East, West and Didsbury) is pricey for both rentals and purchases.
  2. Chorlton – one of the most expensive parts of Manchester and trendiest. Chorlton Green is desirable and properties rarely come up for sale there – and a terraced home can cost over half a million pounds.
  3. Altrincham. While not in the city centre, Altrincham is a suburb known for its affluent residential areas, excellent schools, and a thriving market. It’s often favoured by families. It is served by the Metrolink, which pushes prices up.
  4. Sale is another expensive suburb of Manchester, but is seen as desirable as it has excellent schools and transport links.
  5. Stockport has a mix of properties and is seeing town centre regeneration. It is close to the Peak District and has regular and fast trains to Piccadilly Station (journey time of around 10 minutes).

Metro Man and Van, Manchester, covers all the areas named above and more.

We do advise you to:

  1. Get Multiple Quotes: It’s a good practice to get quotes from multiple removal companies to compare prices and services. This can help you make an informed decision based on your budget and requirements.
  2. Check Insurance: Ensure that the removal company you choose has appropriate insurance coverage to protect your belongings during the move. This is an essential aspect of any reputable removal service.
  3. Book in Advance: Removal companies, especially during peak moving seasons, can get booked up quickly. To secure your preferred moving date and potentially get better rates, it’s advisable to book well in advance.

Always read reviews (we have almost 60 Google reviews) and ask for a written quote detailing the services and costs involved before making a decision. Additionally, make sure to communicate your specific requirements and any unique items you may be moving to get an accurate estimate.
